Today I sent our LOA back to Madison, along with the DS-230 form, Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration. This is the first document where we had to specify Taylor's new American name. After a lot of discussion on her complete name, we have chosen to use my mother's name, Katherine, as her middle name along with Caihong. So her full name will be Taylor Katherine Caihong Behrens. I know that's a mouthful but at least she will have the choice whether to use her Chinese name or not. Some people have said that they just use initials when asked for the full name. And if she completely hates the name, we can always change it later.
My sister Beth reminded me that the last house our mom lived in was on Taylor Street. And my mom passed away on 4/28/97, so receiving our LOA on that same day is like a red thread to her name.
These documents will be sent back to China and delivered to the Consulate in Guangzhou to wait for our other approval steps.
Also included was a Preliminary Travel Information sheet, letting Madison know how many people we were expecting to travel, how many hotel rooms we needed, if we were planning any extra travel, and if we want to visit the SWI.
