I ordered a Happy New Year package from a woman that buys items in China and sends to your children. She sent me a picture yesterday of what is being included in the package. It has a silk outfit, a small panda bear, a camera, some candies, a jade bracelet with a rabbit (Allison was born in the year of the rabbit), 4 envelopes addressed to us so she can write us letters (crossing my fingers on that one!) and 1 picture of us. It also includes a letter that I wrote to her.
This is what the letter says:
Dear Guo Cai Hong,
We are writing to let you know that we are going to be your family. We will be your Dad and Mom. You also have 2 sisters. Chelsea is 12 years old and Kaylie is 5 years old. They were both born in China too.
We live in the state of Illinois, which is in the central part of the United States and is a very long way from where you are.
We are waiting on approvals from the United States and China to be able to come to China and meet you and bring you to your new home. We don’t know exactly when that will be yet, maybe in September or October.
We are also trying to decide on an American name for you. We are thinking about either Taylor or Allison. Do you like either of those names?
We are sending you a few things, including some pictures, so you can know what we look like. We are also sending several envelopes with our address on them in case you would like to write us a letter or draw a picture for us. We would love to hear from you. Also please use the camera to take pictures of you and anything else that you’d like. We would love to have pictures of your foster family or other special friends. Please bring the camera with you when we meet and we will get the pictures developed.
We can’t wait to meet you and be your family forever. When you look up at the moon at night, know that we are looking at the same moon and thinking of you. Please tell your foster mom and dad and the nannies at the BeiHai SWI that we are very thankful to them for taking care of you.
We Love You,
Mommy and Daddy
And Sisters Chelsea and Kaylie
