Guangzhou - Day 8 - Travel to Hong Kong

We had our last breakfast buffet at the hotel and then finished up packing.  We were to check out before noon and meet Connie in the lobby by 12:15pm.  There was a huge bus waiting to take us to the train station and then the other family in our 'group' to the airport.  We made it through all the steps at the station and on board the train just fine.  We had seats that faced each other with a small table between them.  It was great for Kaylie to have the little computer set up to play her Starfall most of the way.  The girls and their dad played a few hands of Uno but then decided to quit that and Taylor took a little nap.  The ride went by pretty quickly except that Chelsea was 'starving'.  A woman came through selling chicken (a leg and thigh together) so she and Taylor shared that.

Once off the train, we went through the immigration line.  A man was waiting for us with the 2 larger suitcases that we checked.  We carried everything else on with us.  Then we waited in the taxi line.  It didn't take too long and we were in the taxi, and then at the Disneyland Hotel.  This hotel is similar to the Floridian in Florida.  It's basically a white Victorian type of building with a red roof.

When I booked the rooms (we had to get 2 since we have 5 people now), I booked one sea view and one garden view (a little cheaper).  I figured that way we'd see both types of views, since I didn't know if they had adjoining rooms.  The rooms they gave us were across the hall from each other, not straight across, but 1 room off.  So we decided to check if they had adjoining rooms instead.  They did have a set of rooms they could move us to, although they had done a 'deep cleaning' of one of the rooms so they wanted us to wait a couple of hours to go into it.  We wanted to eat dinner anyway, so we said that would be ok.

So once all our bags were in the one room, we headed to the buffet dinner.  It ended up being a character buffet.  We had visits from Tigger, Minnie, Piglet and Mickey.

After dinner, Chelsea and Taylor went for a swim.  There's both a smaller indoor pool, more for laps, and a bigger outside pool, with a slide and a separate whirlpool.  They played inside for a bit and then went outside.  There are lifevests to use so when the girls decided to go down the slide together, I put one on Taylor.  She had just been using an inflatable ring we bought in Nanning.  The vest gives her more freedom and confidence to go down the slide.  They also played in the whirlpool for quite a while.  Chelsea said the main pool was chilly but the whirlpool was warm.  They stayed in the pool until it closed at 10pm.

Now we're just relaxing in the room.  Chelsea is watching a movie we bought in Guangzhou.  Taylor is sort of watching with her, although Chelsea has headphones on so she can't really hear it, not that she'd understand it since it's in English.  Kaylie was playing with her Tag books, but she just fell asleep in the chair.  Guess it's time to call it a night.

Tomorrow will be a big day, as it will be Taylor's first time at Disneyland.
